Day 2 - Chicago is full of challenges

Imagine having 400 people ready to go - literally on the worksites beginning the work of the week…and then it happens. You know, the words “cease all work immediately” come across my cell phone. The reason really isn’t the important thing here - it was how all 400 responded to this new challenge that eventually forced all crews to come back early.

This is how it went…the call goes out to stop work. The crews begin the questioning of WHY, this is WHAT WE’RE HERE FOR…right? Not necessarily - as crews began digging deep in their crew times (chat sessions onsite designed for devotions and encouragement), the direction of their hearts changed. Some crew began doing random Deeds of Kindness for homeowners in their area, some played with neighborhood kids, and some had some great conversations with homeowners…a few resulted in 6 people hearing the gospel and their lives being changed forever - eternity that is. What could have been a bomb of a day resulted in genuine expressions of sharing love - whether through deed or word, they shared God’s loving amazingly!

Our LCC kids had awesome attitudes and are looking forward to whatever is ahead tomorrow. We’re having a blast, learning lots, and experiencing things that we never dreamed we ever would. I am so thankful to God for what I had the opportunity to see happen today - and yes, the challenge still remains ahead tomorrow - but the hearts are readied for how and where God wants to use us.
